El Dorado man dies as a result of crash

An El Dorado man has passed away as a result of injuries he sustained in a car accident earlier this month.

Shawn D. Samuels, 33, passed away on Oct. 7 following an accident on Mt. Holly Road.

According to a preliminary accident report from the Arkansas State Police, Samuels was headed west on Mt. Holly Road in his 2008 F-series pickup when the accident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m.

The report states that Samuels lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to take a left-hand curve. He traveled off the right side of the road before re-entering it and swerving off the left-side of the road and finally striking a tree, according to the ASP.

Samuels' vehicle subsequently caught on fire, causing his fatal injuries, according to the report.
