El Dorado falls to Hot Springs Lakeside 2-1

During their five-game winning streak, El Dorado’s offense scored in double figures in all five of those games.

On Tuesday, Hot Springs Lakeside’s Harrison Barmore kept the Wildcats in check, going the distance with a seven-hitter to lift the Rams to a 2-1 win over the Wildcats in a 5A South tilt at the El Dorado/Union County Recreation Complex.

Barmore allowed one unearned run, didn’t issue any walks and struck out three for the Rams, who have won seven of their nine games this month.

Justin Dumas took the loss after allowing three hits and two runs in 5 2/3 innings. He walked five and struck out six.

The Rams scored in the first without the aid of a hit, as Barmore was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that was preceded by three walks.

The Wildcats got back on even terms in the bottom of the first.

With one out, Holden Lowry singled and took second on a ground out to shortstop by Sam York.

Jake Webster-Moore then reached on an error to extend the inning to put runners at the corners, and Hunter Lawrence followed with a base hit to score Lowry to tie the game.

The score remained unchanged until the fifth when Brennan Browning singled home Adrian Aguirre with the go-ahead run. Aguirre singled with one out and went to second when Eysa Chapman was hit by a pitch.

Lawrence and Xorian Robinson were each 2-for-3 for El Dorado, while Lowry, York and Webster-Moore each had one hit for the Wildcats.

El Dorado stranded runners in scoring position in the second and third innings and came away empty in the bottom of the fifth after loading the bases with one out. The Wildcats also squandered two hits in the sixth.

The Wildcats (10-4, 4-3) and Rams (7-4, 6-1) meet in the rematch on Thursday in Hot Springs.
