The El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce has announced the date and speaker for its 2023 Annual Meeting.

The luncheon, which will be held on Wednesday, April 12th, will take place at the First Financial Music Hall and will feature Chancellor of the University of Arkansas Charles Robinson, Ph.D. as the keynote speaker.

"We are honored to have Chancellor Robinson as our keynote speaker," said Chamber President and CEO Bill Luther. "I understand this will be his first major public address since his selection as the new University Of Arkansas Chancellor. I am looking forward to hearing his message to El Dorado [and] Union County."

The El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce's Annual Meeting allows the public to see the new Chamber of Commerce leadership and ambassadors. During the banquet, the Chamber celebrates the success of the previous year along with announcing the Ambassador of the Year.

Chancellor Robinson was appointed chancellor of the University of Arkansas on November 16, 2022, after serving as interim chancellor since August 2021. In that time as interim, he championed a new emphasis on the university's land-grant mission and set the priorities of supporting student success, augmenting the institution's research enterprise, and becoming an employer of choice.

Known as an engaged and approachable leader on campus, Robinson is also heavily involved with multiple regional, state, and national organizations including recent or current roles on the Arkansas Research Alliance Board of Directors, AETN Foundation Board, Northwest Arkansas Council Advisory Committee (presiding co-chair), ARVEST Bank Board of Directors, Center for First-generation Student Success Advisory Board, and the Association of Public Land grant Universities Council of Presidents.

The chamber luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. and end around 1 p.m. in the First Financial Music Hall at the Murphy Arts District.

Tickets are $35 per person and reservations are required. To reserve a seat for the event, contact Faye Brown, communications coordinator, at [email protected] or 870-863-6113 ext. 1. The chamber is located at 111 W. Main Street in El Dorado.

"The Annual Meeting is the largest event of the year for the Chamber. We are thrilled that our newest member, Red River Credit Union will be this year's title sponsor," Luther said.

Sponsors for this event include title sponsor Red River Credit Union; presenting sponsors: LANXESS, Medical Center of South Arkansas, Murphy USA, and Nexans AmerCable; boomtown sponsors: Datamax, Emrich and Scroggins, LLP, Certified Public Accountants, First Financial Bank, Mustard Seed Wealth Management, and Smackover State Bank.
