Parkers Chapel downs Perryville 3-1

DONALDSON – Parkers Chapel got another sterling pitching performance and a timely two-out hit to finish spring break on a high note.

Three pitchers combined on a two-hitter, as the Trojans topped Perryville 3-1 Saturday at the Mike Volz Memorial Tournament.

Chris Greer, Cameron Mayo and Sy Fife combined for 10 strikeouts with Mayo working two innings in relief of Greer, PC’s starter, to pick up the win.

Mayo walked three and struck out four while allowing one hit and one run. Fife picked up a save by getting the final two outs, recording one strikeout.

Greer went 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit along with three walks and five strikeouts.

PC was limited to just one hit in the game, but it was a big one, as a two-out single by Paytin Greene drove in two runs in the fourth.

J.T. Ingram scored PC’s third run in the seventh after stealing third base and crossing the plate on a throwing error on the play.

The Trojans (8-2) will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Fordyce in an 8-2A clash.
