Parkers Chapel opens tourney with win over West Memphis

DONALDSON – After an eight-day sabbatical, Parkers Chapel returned to the diamond and got an outstanding pitching performance to advance at the Mike Volz Memorial Tournament on Thursday.

J.T. Ingram and Dyson Dougan collaborated on a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts, as Parkers Chapel knocked off West Memphis 6-1.

Ingram, PC’s starter, struck out 13 while allowing just one hit and one run in five innings of work to pick up the win. He walked three, and he also helped himself at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Dougan worked two scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit with one walk and two strikeouts.

Dougan also had a big day at the plate, driving in four runs while hitting a pair of doubles for the Trojans, who had five hits in the game.

Chris Greer had a single, walked twice and scored two runs for PC, who opened the scoring with four runs in the third.

The Trojans (7-2) continued play in the tournament in the semifinals on Friday.
