El Dorado picks up third straight victory

MONTICELLO – After scoring 31 runs in a pair of wins on Saturday, El Dorado’s bats continued to stay hot, as the Wildcats banged out 11 hits in a 10-3 win over Monticello to wrap up play at the Monticello Tournament on Monday.

Holden Lowry went 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs for the Wildcats. He also scored three runs.

Justin Dumas, Jake Webster-Moore and Mitchell Polk all had two hits for El Dorado, who scored three runs in the first and two in the second to take an early 5-0 lead before scoring four runs in the fifth to break the game open.

Lowry opened the scoring in the first with an RBI single that scored Shadarious Plummer, who reached on an error, stole second and took third on a wild pitch.

Lowry took second on a wild pitch, third on Dumas’ fly out to right and scored on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Lawrence.

Sam York, who had walked following Lowry’s base hit, took third on Lawrence’s sacrifice fly and scored on a single by Webster-Moore to make it 3-0.

Lowry added an RBI single in the second and York drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Leading 5-1 in the fifth, the Wildcats broke the game open.

Xorian Robinson walked and stole second and Polk singled to put runners at the corners.

Peyton Howard drove in a run with a fielder’s choice, and after a walk to Plummer, Lowry drove in a pair of runs with a triple.

Dumas worked 4 2/3 innings, allowing only one hit and two runs with only one being earned. He walked seven and struck out eight to pick up the win. Jonah Davis pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to seal the win.

El Dorado (8-3), winners of three straight, will be back in action on Thursday when the Wildcats head to Magnolia to face the Panthers. 

Game time is set for 6 p.m.
