MONTICELLO - El Dorado earned its first victory of the basketball season on Saturday. The Wildcats had to dig out of a hole to do it.
El Dorado trailed 21-9 at the half but rallied for a 54-47 victory over previously unbeaten Dumas in the Drew Central Classic. The Wildcats improved to 1-3 on the season and will open conference Tuesday at White Hall. The Bobcats fell to 5-1 on the season.
William Obiozo scored 15 points to lead El Dorado, including 12 in the second half. J Prince Roberson added 13, nine in the second half. Isaiah Robinson scored 10 points and Isaac Aaron scored all eight of his points in the second half.
Dumas led 7-4 after one quarter and outscored the Wildcats 14-5 in the second period.
El Dorado found its offense after intermission, pumping in 25 points in the third quarter and another 20 in the fourth. The Wildcats outscored the Bobcats 25-9 in the third quarter and hit five 3-pointers in the second half.
Raylen Spratt led Dumas with 16 points. Billy Reddick and Marcus Kilgore added 11 points apiece.
