El Dorado wrestlers compete in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT - El Dorado traveled to Parkway High School on Saturday and competed in the Riot on the Red Wrestling Tournament. The Wildcats entered two teams - El Dorado Purple and El Dorado White. Purple placed seventh in the tournament with White finishing 10th.

“We saw a lot of improvement from our first event,” said Coach Alex Townsend. “I was proud of how we competed and how we conducted ourselves off the mat, too. We did a great job of encouraging and conducting ourselves the right way. There is still a lot we can improve on, but I think we’re getting better everyday.”

El Dorado’s Maddie Aguiluz placed fourth in the 113-pound weight class and Elisha Graham was fourth in the 285-pound class.

Ryan Temple was fifth in the 132 division. Grayson Finch (144), Spencer Poole (157) and Winston Williams (190) all tied for fifth in their respective classes. Evan Criss placed as consolation champion at 175. Jackson Pagan (120), Chase Shults (138), Lucas Gates (175) and Owen Faith (285) were consolation semifinalists.

El Dorado has a tri-meet scheduled for Monday in Shreveport against Evangel and Haughton. On Friday and Saturday, the team will travel to Hot Springs Lakeside for the Ram Rumble.
