SMACKOVER – Junction City’s Rihanna Henry banked in a 3-pointer with less than 40 seconds remaining Friday to help the Lady Dragons beat Smackover 40-38. Junction City improved to 1-3 on the season while the Lady Bucks fell to 0-7.

Bria Watson pumped in 24 points to lead the Lady Dragons, who led 8-6 after one quarter. Smackover outscored Junction City 15-10 in the second and took a 21-18 advantage at the half.

The Lady Dragons carried a 34-30 lead into the fourth quarter. Henry’s 3-pointer gave Junction City a 40-37 lead. The Lady Dragons defended on the other end to earn their first win of the season.

“I'm proud how we were able to keep our composure down the stretch,” said Junction City coach Henry Harrell. “We were able to play solid defense without fouling even though we had three players to foul out. The ones who came off the bench did a good job. I'm so proud of the team for their efforts tonight.”

Abby Brewer and Baniya Welch led the Lady Bucks with 15 and 11, respectively.

KaZarria Gray scored four points for Junction City. Sharcristyia Williams had two blocked shots.

West Side Christian 63,

Claiborne Academy 45

The Lady Warriors built a large lead early and then cruised home with a win over Claiborne Academy on Friday. West Side improved to 9-0 on the season.

The Lady Warriors led 16-4 after one quarter and 29-10 at the intermission. West Side pushed the advantage to 37-14 midway in the third and it swelled to as large as 45-20 before Claiborne Academy cut the margin to 45-26 going into the final period.

Jenna McAdams led the Lady Warriors with 20 points in the paint. Camille McKnight added 18 and Victoria Colley chipped in with 13.

Jaylee Baird led Claiborne Academy with 15 points.
